Meet Developer, Josh Corteen
We caught up with Josh Corteen who joined us as a Trainee Developer in our Isle of Man office in 2021 and has recently been promoted to Developer.
How did you join PDMS?
I joined PDMS straight from university. I sent my CV in via the website and after two informal interviews, I was offered the position of Trainee Developer.
What qualifications do you need to do your job?
To become a Developer at PDMS, you don’t necessarily need any particular qualifications but I do have a relevant degree. PDMS are very supportive of continual professional development for everyone from trainees right up to members of the board, so I have been able to learn a lot since joining.
What skills do you need to do your job?
You need to have good problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn new coding languages as well as strong communication skills. Also, understanding that you won’t know everything, so be ready to ask for help if needed.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day includes a daily developer catch-up, then working through any developer tasks from our jobs board. Jobs vary from being quick fixes through to needing multiple people to work on the code. In the afternoon, if I have time, I'll do some self-learning.
