Bahamas Maritime Authority introduces full electronic certification with help from PDMS

News Published on 26 March 2021

Our longstanding client, Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA), has successfully gone live with their latest upgrade to their ship registry management software, BORIS.

The enhancements to BORIS allow for all certifications to be done remotely. The move to electronic certification not only fulfils the latest IMO guidelines but also demonstrates BMA’s commitment to the environment. The latest addition to BORIS follows a suite of major enhancements which went live late last year allowing companies to digitally access many of the services offered.

Captain Steve Bomgardner, Global Business Development Director of the Bahamas Maritime Authority, said:

“The BMA is committed to improving its services to clients and this latest development provides a simple and rapid solution for all vessels, and seafarers when they require access to their documentation.”

PDMS Director Bruce McGregor added:

“We are delighted to assist the BMA with their digital transformation journey and are confident about the benefits electronic certificates will bring to BMA’s clients. We have an excellent working relationship with Steve and the team. The latest changes to BORIS mean that any certificates required can be obtained instantly, records are available online 24/7 and can be verified on-demand – which helps the BMA to maintain its position as a leading flag state.”
