Quality Achievement for PDMS

PDMS has received ISO 9001 certification from the international certification body Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA) for its ICT services which include software development, consultancy and support. This internationally recognised standard focuses on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction and specifies that companies must have systems in place to provide excellence in all areas of service.

Over the past 12 months, PDMS have undertaken a thorough review of their business systems, and to achieve accreditation, have undergone a series of internal and external audits. Exploiting the potential of internet technology, PDMS have used their own internal on-line business system, known as IBiS, as their core quality management system including document control and management.

The quality process has been driven by Andrew Cairns, PDMS' Projects Manager who has a great deal of experience in quality systems and the new ISO 9001: 2000 standard in particular. To ensure that the company got as much value as possible out of the certification process, PDMS also enlisted the help of quality experts Dr. Chris Bamber and Professor John Sharp of OLC (Europe) Ltd.

Chris Gledhill, Managing Director of PDMS commented, “ A lot of effort and hard work has been invested in this quality certification but we are already seeing the benefits. The ISO 9000 certification has also brought recognition for PDMS within the quality arena. The internal audit reports created by the PDMS audit team have been adopted as best practice examples as part of the one day British Standards Institute Information workshop on ISO 19011: 2002 Guidelines for auditing of quality management and environmental management systems.
